Neo-Ippon Nawa Workshop
with
Kinbakuartistmiki and Xin
Sun January 25th, 2026
10am-4:00pm
Neo-Ippon Nawa — A contemporary evolution of the minimalist Japanese rope art form Ippon Nawa, as developed by artist and educator Kinbakuartistmiki and Xin.
In Ippon Nawa, a single rope becomes a canvas for creativity, presence, and connection. Neo-Ippon Nawa expands upon this by blending traditional minimalism, expressive modern flair, and the beauty of the moment — prioritizing intimacy, improvisation, and dialogue between rope and human interactions.
In this workshop you will learn:
Cultivate deep, mindful communication with your partner through subtle rope tension, and movement within mutual respect, empathy, and shared exploration.
Experience rope as a collaborative and living medium, continuously tying and untying, allowing your intuition to guide the flow.
Embrace the beauty of impermanence, discovering freedom and creativity in every moment of uncertainty.
Prerequisites:
This workshop is for tying pairs. If you are solo and need a partner, let us or Miki know and we can arrange it.
