Sat January 24, 2026. 6pm-12amOur first rope jam of the year has a performance! Miki and Xin will give a special performance the night before their workshop! If you are not attending the workshop, come see them collaborate collaborate on a multimedia film-like experience with a blend of Shibari art and its philosophies, Visual art, found sounds and light show.Following the performance will be a short Q&A w/ hosted by them and a rope jam that is open all. Same as before:We will wish for people to remain comfortable to play and socialize given the intimate space of the studio.There is no prerequisite of experience or skill level, just respect, open-mindedness and courtesy towards one another and the venue.

Tickets
$45 + processing feesThere are four “pay-what-you-want” spots. Please allow those who really need this option to take it. Since we have a performance, we have set a minimum to $20.Your privacy matters to us. If you choose this ticket, it will remain confidential. We honor every ticket and ticketholder the same way no matter what amount you choose.Tickets are per person.The space is intimate, and attendance will be capped to allow everyone to be able to socialize and play comfortably.

Kinbakuartistmiki is a Baltimore based performer and educator, and is of Cuban nationality, originally born & raised in Florida. From studying Shibari / Kinbaku in Japan in 2017 to teaching, performing, and hosting workshops across the United States, his style of kinbaku practices a silent & observant style, incorporating improvisation, movement, senses. Miki has studied under Murasaki Haruan (Yukimura Ryu), Kasumi Hourai, Tenma Haru, Akane and Iroha Suzuki. Recent works include traveling around the US to host Workshops, Performance, Demo Stations, Shibari Life Drawing, Exhibition and Talks. Xin is a Chinese multidisciplinary artist born in Japan who has toured, performed, taught and held workshops around the US since 2019 w/ Kinbakuartistmiki. Her art practice explores sex, gender & politics through humor by transforming ready-made objects and creating performative social intervention pieces with herself and her body as the catalyst."My work is my reaction to my surroundings. I encounter Myself in the World; I encounter the World in myself. Daily-life metaphors, feminist dilemmas, consumerism and my childhood experiences in Japan have influenced me.”
