Thoughts on Thursdays

Thu February 19th, 7:30-9:30pm EST

Topic:
Listening to Bodies: Rope, Health, and Adaptation

Thoughts on Thursdays returns in February with a roundtable focused on listening to bodies. Rope does not exist in a vacuum. Bodies change. Capacity changes. Diagnoses happen. Surgeries happen. Neurodivergence shapes how sensation, focus, trust, and communication land. And yet, our experience with rope does not have to end.

This roundtable centers on how mental and physical conditions intersect with rope practice, for both tops and bottoms. This includes, but is not limited to, ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence, chronic pain and connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers Danlos syndrome, cancer and cancer treatment, ports and scars, and gender affirming surgeries.

In conjunction with our February Work of art event highlighting an individual navigating cancer, treatment, and embodied change, this conversation is about adaptation rather than limitation. It is about learning how to listen to your body, how to communicate changing needs, and how rope can remain connective and meaningful as circumstances change.

This is not a medical talk. It is a community conversation grounded in lived experience, mutual care, and skillful adaptation. You are welcome to reflect silently or share generally without personal detail.

This roundtable is open to and appropriate for all members of the rope community. You do not need to share to participate. Because this is virtual, it does not qualify as a vetting event for the studio.

About Thoughts on Thursdays:

Our roundtable approach includes all rope practitioners of all skill and interest levels! We invite all rope tops, bottoms and curious parties to join together to discuss a topic and share your perspective. This will occur usually occur on every Third Thursdays of the month.

Our goal is that you walk away with increased confidence in your own practice and your relationship to rope and with your own partners, present and future.

Get to know the people in our community and learn more about who they are, how they feel about rope, what draws them to it and what their process is.
