Thoughts on Thursdays

Thu June 19th, 7:30-9:30pm EST

Topic: Predicament Ties: Why we tie them, what it does for us and where we go…

After the success of our first virtual roundtable, we will continue virtually this month! During this Roundtable we will discuss a specific type of tie or style of scene: The Predicament Tie! Specifically, we want to hear perspectives from both Tops and Bottoms as to why you like predicament ties, why you do not like them and what it does for you from both sides. Also, if it is something you incorporate in your rope, what headspace do you tend to fall into while tying or while in a predicament tie.

For Tops:

  • What drives you to want to tie your Bottom in a predicament?

  • What does it do for you to hold them in a predicament?

  • Where do you go after a predicament? Where does the scene normally go and how does the predicament change the flow or feel of the scene?

  • Did you prefer to not tie predicaments? If so, why not? What turns you away from this type of tie?

For Bottoms:

  • What do you enjoy or not enjoy about predicament ties? Do you ask for them if you prefer them?

  • What kind of feels come up during a predicament tie? How does this affect your headspace?

  • Are you able to dive as deeply or sink into the rope/your emotions while in a predicament tie? Does a predicament tie facilitate an even deeper dive?

Predicament ties can be challenging, for both Tops and Bottoms and in different ways. Let’s get together and discover what each of us has learned from tying in this unique and interesting way. Learn how predicament ties affect you in your rope scenes and hear from other members in the rope community. Bring your thoughts and an open mind!

This roundtable is open to and appropriate for all members of the rope community. Because this is virtual, it does not qualify as a vetting event.

Facilitator:

Veers (he/him)

Veers has been in and out of the kink scene for the last 10 years. Always having an affinity for bondage, he found his way into the community and through his relationship with Violet, really began to explore Shibari, at first from an explorative perspective and now as a practicing rope top and bottom. He feels that for one to truly understand how rope affects each person involved, one must observe, develop the skills of tying and also the experience of being tied. He sees rope as a relational experience where connection and emotion are developed between the top, the bottom and the rope itself.

He has been a part of multiple workshops locally as well as in Chicago and has completed Naka 1 twice in Prague and in Turin, taught by Wildties/Redsabbath. He's very grateful to be one of the founders of BLRS.
