Exploring 3rd & 4th Rope TK for Semenawa
with
Erato-Bänana

Fri April 24, 2026

7-10pm

Adding a third or fourth rope to a TK (takate kote) is a common practice in semenawa, enriching the tie by adapting it to specific needs and intentions.

This workshop will focus on how to incorporate these additional ropes across a variety of contexts. Whether used to support complex positions like gyaku ebi, optimize vertical suspensions, introduce constraint, restrict breathing, or achieve a particular aesthetic, these ropes can serve diverse and powerful roles

We’ll explore the foundational requirements of the TK in greater depth, and how to effectively integrate the third and fourth ropes. You’ll be introduced to various construction techniques and learn how to creatively freestyle variations based on your own needs and preferences.

A key component of this class will focus on upper body anatomy – particularly how the third and fourth ropes interact with different body shapes, volumes, and sensitivities. We’ll examine chest shape, shoulder mobility, and the distribution of tissue and muscle, and how these factors influence rope placement. This understanding is essential for adapting your tying with precision and care – not just for safety, but to achieve intentional and responsive effects.

Rather than applying a fixed pattern, we will emphasize an approach based on observation, responsiveness, and adaptation to the individual in front of you

  • Familiarity with each other as tying partners

  • Tops: Familiarity on tying a TK with the bottom you are attending with

Presenter Bio:

Bänana, a ten-year bondage enthusiast, found her passion in shibari, drawn to its raw and authentic nature. As she has always been fascinated by the expression of emotion, shibari has opened up a new path of exploration to her. She began to folow Docvale’s teaching in November 2018, later partnering with him to co-manage Atelier Simonet in Paris until summer 2023. She opened her own rope studio in Paris in 2024 : La Cabäne. As an instructor, Bänana emphasizes understanding the reasons behind each technique, rather than rote learning. She believes in using these skills to enhance the connection with partners. With experience as both a rigger and a model, she is dedicated to teaching both roles, providing tools for a rewarding rope experience.

Bänana is a precise and demanding instructor regarding bondage technique. She considers that in order to tie wel, we must understand each of our technical choices rather than learning the instructions by heart. She gives to her students a solid grounding so they can feel free while tying and put these technical abilities at the service of the relationship with their partners.

Bänana's courses are so often highly interactive, with the idea that everyone should have a place to ask questions and express their experiences and feedback in order to grow together in this practice
