What We Offer 〰️

Rope Lab and Share

A monthly, practice-centered space to learn, explore, and develop your rope.

Rope Lab and Share is designed for skill-building through repetition, experimentation, and shared knowledge. It offers a supportive environment to work on your ties, exchange insights, and grow your practice alongside others.

Open to all styles and experience levels, including both self-tiers and partnered practitioners. You’re welcome to come solo or with a partner.

Each session includes a community facilitator available to help you get oriented, answer questions, and support your learning.

Rope Jam

A relaxed, open space for tying, socializing, and spending time in community.

Rope Jam is a casual environment where people come to connect, catch up, and share space in rope. Some people tie throughout the evening, others take their time settling in, talking, and moving between conversations and rope.

This is not a structured or technique-focused event. It’s a place to practice in your own way, at your own pace, and to engage with the community however feels right that night.

Come with a partner or on your own. Many people attend solo, and there is often space to meet others and find connection.

All styles and experience levels are welcome.

Midweek Meetup

Midweek Meetup is our monthly midweek gathering, designed to create more space for connection, conversation, and time in rope. The evening is structured with time to mingle and talk at the start, followed by open time in rope. It is meant to be welcoming, low-pressure, and community-oriented, with room for different kinds of engagement depending on the edition. Midweek Meetup rotates through different editions, including:

Mixer
A casual, social evening focused on meeting new people, reconnecting with familiar faces, and building relationships within the community. There may be light prompts or facilitation, but the emphasis is on organic connection.

Musings
A reflective, lightly guided discussion space for thoughtful conversation about rope, community, and the experiences that shape our practice. Musings invites people to share perspective, ask questions, and engage with topics that are often better explored in person.

Munch Edition
A community-centered potluck gathering focused on conversation without expectation. Munch nights are simple, unstructured spaces to talk, catch up, share food, and be together. There is no set topic or formal facilitation, just room to slow down and spend time in community.

BIPOC Rope Jam

This jam is created to center Black, Indigenous, and People of Color within rope practice. This offering is meant to create a space where participants can engage freely, with a sense of familiarity, ease, and mutual understanding.

There will be no formal instruction for the evening. Come tie, watch, ask questions, try something new, or simply spend time in the room. Whether you’re experienced or just beginning, you’re welcome here.

We recognize that people come to rope for many different reasons. This jam is not about a single way of practicing, but about making room for a range of experiences to exist alongside one another. The energy of the room is shaped by the people in it, and we invite you to help create something that feels supportive, open, and intentional.

We ask that attendees respect the intention of the space and help maintain an environment that is thoughtful, grounded, and community-oriented. If you do not identify as BIPOC, we ask that you be thoughtful about the purpose of this space and whether attending aligns with that intention.

Cinema Circle

Cinema Circle is a film-centered offering that invites participants to gather around rope on screen. These evenings feature viewings of rope-related films, performances, or recorded works, followed by space for reflection and conversation.

Cinema Circle is an opportunity to engage rope through watching and discussing, to consider how it is represented, what it evokes, and how shared viewing can open new conversations about practice, aesthetics, intimacy, and meaning.

Work of Art

Usually the second Monday of every other month

Work of Art brings together rope and visual art in an evening centered on observation, interpretation, and creative exchange. These events invite artists and attendees to engage with rope not only as an embodied practice, but also as a source of form, tension, beauty, relationship, and expression.

Whether through live drawing, witnessing tied scenes, or experiencing rope through an artistic lens, Work of Art creates space to notice details, honor creativity, and explore the many ways rope can be seen and felt.

Workshops and Classes

In addition to our ongoing programs, we host workshops and classes on a rotating basis.

These offerings may focus on technical skill development, specific tie progressions, theory, performance, or other aspects of rope practice. Workshops are typically led by guest instructors or experienced members of the community.

Visit the Workshops & Classes page for current offerings.

Kinbaku Odyssey Collaboration

We are proud to collaborate with Kinbaku Odyssey and host their rotating workshop series at the studio. Rigger Odys was endorsed to teach basic Nakastyle after years of dedicated study with Naka Akira sensei. This dedicated educational curriculum emphasizes both technical precision and the relational, emotional experience of rope.

This includes structured offerings such as:

  • Prep: fundamental techniques

  • Gote: focus on hands tied behind the back, and additional building blocks for Naka style shibari

  • Kata 1 and Kata 2: technique, transitions, and experiences

  • Semenawa Research Meetings, sessions which focus on intention, emotional progression, and the shared journey

These workshops provide a progressive, in-depth approach to rope, grounded in study, refinement, and continued practice. Visit their website for more details.
